2014 Ruben Ramos Roble
Vinos Ruben Ramos Roble 2014
100% Tempranillo Grapes from the vines of the winery's own family estate.
The poor soil and harsh Spanish weather conditions combined with the passionate artisan work that goes into this wine result in a great example of why I love the Duero. I am very fortunate in meeting this family, visiting their vineyards and winery, and watching them pour their hearts into making this wine. Ruben grew up among these vines. As a child he would go exploring, sometimes climbing up to the Penafiel Castle and looking down at the Duero valley and at what would eventually be his livelihood. Standing amongst these very vines, I had the pleasure of drinking this vintage with this artisan and his beautiful family. I'm sure Ruben Jr. will be climbing up to the castle himself soon.
Style: Red wine
Region: D.O. Ribera del Duero
Varietal: 100% Tempranillo (Tinto Fino)
Winemaking Notes: Handpicked and carefully harvested grapes undergo traditional carbonic maceration in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 6 months in French/American oak and finally, 6 more months aged in bottle.
Tasting Notes: Deep and intense. For those that like strong fruit and less tannins this is your Tempranillo. A little less time in oak (6 months) than the Crianza but still has an elegant red color. On the palate, it's fruit is brighter there is less tannins and less oak and toast but still has that great meaty punch. Short bright tannins and a smooth finish.
Pairing Suggestions: Tapas, lamb, cheeses, light meats like pork and chicken, stews, paella.
Note: All purchases of alcoholic beverages must be made by persons over the age of 21.
