To most who have traveled to Spain, Garnacha is ever present. As the second most popular red wine in Spain Garnacha is found in nearly every bar, restaurant and home. What you don't see often is white wine made from the red skinned Garnacha grape, or Garnacha Blanca. It is often referred to as the fruity red wine from Spain. It can however like many red grape varietals be elaborated into a white wine when little or no skin contact happens during the fermentation. It then becomes a bit of a mystery. Luis has deepened that plot even further by placing the white into new French oak barrels before the fermentation is finished and leaving it for 3 months!

We visited this Bodega and fell madly in love with both the wines and the wine maker, Luis. His absolute passion for wine making along with his hospitality are legendary in the region of Extremadura. His creativity applied to winemaking is truly amazing. He breaks all the rules by doing things no other wine maker will even attempt. Each wine has that special twist that only Luis knows how to make work.

Varietal: 100% Garnacha

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are bladder pressed and separated from the seeds and skins. Fermentation starts in concrete before moving to new French oak for final fermentation and polishing.

Tasting Notes: Light yellow in color. The aromas are powerful with citrus white fruits, strawberry along with the toasted wood notes from the barrel. The oak influence is subtle but present and helps to give a silky mouth feel. the finish is smooth with fresh acidity.

Pairing Suggestions: Serve chilled. White meats like chicken, pork, fish, semi cured cheeses and salads.
