Arzuaga La Planta 2014
This wine is produced with Tinto Fino grapes that are over 20 years old. They all come from our estate La Planta, located in Quintanilla de Onésimo, right in the heart of Ribera del Duero, and lends it name to the wine. A clayey limestone soil over unbroken bedrock within one meter down the surface and an altitude of about 900 meters of altitude give La Planta wine its special features.
Elaboration: Once the optimal maturation point is reached, the hand-picking process and the storage in 15kg crates ended, clusters are sorted on a table to be later de-stemmed and vatted in stainless steel tanks, where they undergo cold maceration and alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures between 22ºC and 24ºC. The aging in French and American oak casks during a period of six months produce a mature and elegant fruity wine.
Aging: 6 months in American and French 225 litre oak barrels, and 6 months in the bottle.
Tasting Notes: Visually; Clean, bright, high intensity and cherry red with cardinal border. On the nose; High aromatic intensity, with a great variety of fruits, with the aromas of red fruits. The acidic strawberry and the cherries predominate, next to these the notes of low mountain and resins, mineral touches and aromatics to their own stay in the barrel. Mouth feel; Balance and harmony between all the gustatory components, a structured wine, fleshy, we are always amazed by its softness and freshness.
