Bodegas Real Rubio Garnacha 2013 750mlBodegas Real Rubio
Bodegas Real Rubio Garnacha 2013
Garnacha (Grenache to many) is second only to Tempranillo in popularity, when it comes to red wines from Spain. The Garnacha grape was born in the northern region of Spain known as Aragon. Known for its berry flavors of bright strawberries and raspberries and notes of white pepper, this wine is no exception. Lots of fruit both on the nose and the palate, this garnacha has a pleasant light feel in the mouth and goes equally as well with fresh fish as it does with beef pork and lamb. Grown in rocky soil and aged in oak for 16 months giving stunning complexities beginning to end.
The story of Viñedos Real Rubio began over one hundred years ago at the hands of the great grandparents of the current wine makers, who began grape growing in plots around Monte Yerga in the region of Rioja. Their vineyards are home to most of the official varieties of the Rioja Designation of Origin: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, Viura, Verdejo in addition, they have vines over 60 years old alongside other younger ones less than a decade old. For Real Rubio, wine and the vineyards constitute a way of understanding life which goes way beyond the mere act of growing and making wines, something they have tried to capture in the winery.
