José Antonio Martínez, a perfectionist, began selecting vineyards in 1989. Since then, he has been working and perfecting incessantly. Today he is very well known and respected throughout Spain’s La Rioja. Jose’s personality has definitely rubbed off on his sons Alberto and Sergio, as they begin to influence Altún’s wine production.

Located in Baños de Ebro, in the heart of the Rioja. Bodegas Altún produces wines from Tempranillo, Viura and Malvasia. These traditional varietals are crafted into a selection of marvelous wines using traditional, modern and cutting edge techniques. Each year Bodegas Altún continues to produce even better wines. Incorporating a deep respect for the land and sustainability, the winery makes the most of what nature gives, a philosophy that integrates admiration and gratitude for a land that gives such fantastic grapes.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are grown at a high altitude and selected early in the vintage to keep acid levels high and fresh. Fermented cold in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting Notes: Pale salmon color with a great combination of ripe fruit on the nose - red fruit like strawberries and raspberries. Fresh acidity creates a crisp palate and a long finish. Light and refreshing with fruit and minerality.

Pairing: Fish, chicken, pork, paella and vegetables.
