2013 Bodegas Zintzo 5. Crianza
Bodegas Zintzo 5. 2013
Bodegas Zintzo is a small Basque family estate in the heart of Rioja. Spana Life co. is the only importer to the US. Zintzo wines are derived out of a long-running tradition of using traditional methods to make wine at the small, basque family-owned winery. Located in the old wineries barrio in Villabuena de Álava. Like many wineries in Spain Bodegas Zintzo started out as a true family winery (bodega de familia) and only produced wine for family and friends. For many years most grapes were sold to other wine makers. In 1994 the family decided to launch Zintzo. We are very happy they did!

Winemaking Notes: 5. is made using 100% Tempranillo grapes, hand selected and fermented in stainless steel tanks for 20 to 25 days - with a relatively long period of contact with the grape’s skin to achieve a good balance between the fruit and tannins. Aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels and finally, aged 6 more months in bottle.
Tasting Notes: Easy drinking wine with lots of character. Intense cherry color, harmonious and well balanced. Fine aromas of spices and toasted wood, with nuances of vanilla and oak, velvety and smooth. On the palate it is mature, full-bodied, with a long and smooth finish, an outstanding combination of its fruity character and the maturity of aging in oak.
