badaBADOC Priorat 2015
The badabadoc or "clueless" sloth seems to just enjoy life and all it brings. Not a care goes into things outside of his control. Eating, drinking, sleeping and loving. Not an ounce of thought goes into the jungle around him and all the while with a seemingly permanent smile.
Of all the Spanish wine regions, Priorat is special, partly because it’s something of an anomaly. Vineyards have existed there for at least 2000 years, but fine wine production only took off in the late 1980s. It's a formidable location for making wines. The nutrient-poor soil of slate and granite drains very quickly. This forces the vines to reach deeply for the water and nutrients, evoking strong flavors in the the wines. However, the steep slopes make vine tending and harvesting a strictly manual job, as no equipment can navigate the narrow and tightly stacked rows of vines.
